The purpose of this group is to provide a meeting ground for scientist and engineers who have or wish to design mission architectures for space exploration and wish to discuss and develop them. This is not a group that will meet in cafes and skim the surface of a topic. This group will meet up in study areas and discuss mission designs in detail and with the intention of submitting a proposal, as is done in industry. The meetup will occur once a month, unless followup meetings are agreed upon. O …

The free evening "star party" meetups posted here are hosted by local astronomy clubs and organizations that welcome public participation. These groups offer fun, safe ways to explore the ni …

We are a group of writers who enjoy imaginative, perhaps even offbeat, fiction. Our goal is to write well--or at least better--but with the freedom to make mistakes. Speculative fiction--which includes science fiction, horror, steampunk, dystopian fiction, and fantasy genres--allows writers of fiction an oppor …
… It works best if each piece is no more than three, double-spaced pages. In addition, please bring some copies to share with the group, if possible, so that we can read along with you. Meetings are held at the Bread and Chocolate on Connecticut Avenue. Also, if you plant to attend pleaseRSVP so I can let the restaurant know how many to expect. We will be towards the back of the cafe at a big table shuffling papers about. Hope to see you there!

Our book club meets the third Thursday of every month and we rotate meeting "hosts" each month. We generally try to try a different book genre each month, such as memoir, non-fiction, science fiction, biography, autobiography, classic, fiction, etc. The "host" can select the meeting space, be it a coffee shop, bar, restaurant, or home, and comes up with a few good starter discussion questions. Ideally we'll stick to Capitol Hill and Eastern Market. Feel free to offer "hosting" a meeting, just s …
